Strategic Airlift Capability C-17 Fleet Reaches 15,000 Flight Hours

28 NOV 2014 – PÁPA – – The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III long-range cargo jets of the Strategic Airlift Capability program have achieved a significant milestone on 28 November as the total flying time of its aircraft fleet exceeded 15,000 flight hours.

​The 15,000 flight hour mark was passed on 28 November during an airlift mission requested by the SAC member nation the United States when flying in European airspace.

Ever since the launch of Strategic Airlift Capability program flight operations in 2009 the SAC fleet of C-17s has transported over 46,000 tons (102 million lbs.) of cargo and over 58,000 passengers on over 1,100 missions to cover the airlift needs of its 12 member nations in missions in support to their national defense, NATO, EU and UN commitments and humanitarian relief.
